I know I'm a bit late hearing this story but have you read this one? Just wondering what your thoughts are. First of all I can't believe they got that much for doing very little AND I can't believe strict regulations prevent them from putting the money wherever it needs to go. You'll understand what I'm saying after you read the story...

If you could be so kind as to link our own stories from our own Web site. Or anybody's stories from the original site, as far as that goes.

Thanks!

That is a lot of money and at the time I read that article I was left with several questions. Does one agency who implores the help of another from a different county have to pay for that help? Where did the money eventually end up and how was it used?

I'm sorry but I don't comprehend what you said. Could you explain as though you are talking to a five year old? I don't have a clue what I did wrong. I didn't find it on your website.

Crazi, there's no need to get snarky. I made a simple request.

I'd ask the same if you were linking a TNT story from another Web site. It's just common courtesy and respect for the producer of the content.

I don't know what snarky means and I don't have time to look it up. All I know is I read a story online and I copy and pasted the link to my post. I was simply asking to be educated on what it is you are asking me to do otherwise I will have to continue doing things the only way I know how. Nevermind. I'll ask Muse to esplain these things to me. Muuuse....

You linked a Chronicle story from the TNT Web site. Next time, it would be nice if you linked content from the original producer's Web site. So if it's a NYT story, please link to the NYT. If it's from TNT, link from TNT.

It's a matter of respecting the fact that it takes time and energy to produce content, and the people who create content deserve recognition for this.

I'm sorry if I interpreted your comment as being snarky. It's just a pet peeve of mine that people get proper credit for work they have done.

Would you mind showing me an example of how it should be done.

Oh, I see now the story was originally written by Eric Shwartz of the Chronicle. So how would I get to the original story from there to copy the link from the Chronicle story instead. Sorry I'm so stoopid.

You're not stoopid.

I found it by going to chronline.com, typing in $643,000 in the search box and hitting in. Voila, article.

First off, I'm not in the newspaper business. Being a commoner I could have cared less who writes the news stories that I am attracted by the headlines to read. Therefore I never bother reading who wrote it and just go right to reading the story. I will pay more attention from now on.

Secondly, I have no interest in Anime charactors. I simply chose this one because she looks like me. Well... that is, how I looked twenty to thirty years ago. Thanks for telling me her name though.

I was glad to see this, (and extra glad to see a conflict resolved so quickly-- least I hope it was) because, not being in journalism, I may have done the same thing myself and stepped on some poor hardworking reporter's toes. If I were to see an article online, I would have posted it from the link where I saw it first. I can see how the mistake was made, and also how it would bug someone to have it made.
I'd hate for something I wrote or painted to be credited elsewhere... I've actually seen my meatloaf pictures on people's MySpace and otherwhere around the net, not credited to me at all.

edit: At least the TNT link has Eric's name. The more I think about this, the more confusing it seems like it would be for someone who didn't know before (me). Since the link goes to an article that does credit Eric (and the Chronicle) for the work, I think it would be a really common mistake to make by someone who is not in journalism. I now know, though, that it would be better to create a link from the original article. But if I can't find it...

Anyway, I hope this does not turn into a big problem.

Her name's actually Asuka Langely Soryu — http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asuka_Langley_Soryu — She's a feisty gal in the series.

And trust me, we don't look at non-newspaper people as "commoners."

So what is Evangelion?

Feisty I definitely am. I somehow knew there was more to her than just her looks that I liked. I had a heck of a time getting her avatar to post. Somehow must have done something right by the third attempt at trying.

I accept your apology. There's nothing I hate more than to be misunderstood. All I can do is keep talking until the other person can understand where I am coming from or at least what I am trying to say.

Yay!

Neon Genesis Evangelion is an anime about robots and the end of the world and philosophy and lots of other good stuff. It's a fairly long series. The robots are the coolest.

No kidding...I would have done the same thing. Thanks Tara for pointing that out.

I think they should go to the casino lay it all on red at the roulette table.

Pending the pit bosses approval of course.

As far as the money goes... how much crime in regards to gambling is there in this area to apply this money towards. I'll bet they manage to trickle it elsewhere which is why the question remains unanswered; as in hush, hush, don't tell/print.

Perhaps if the Chronicle would put on a community picnic where the public could meet them each in person then we might be more interested in who writes the stories.

I personally have a slight grudge against the newspaper for not writing a story solely on the battle we're losing against the Japanese knotweed. Here they floated the Chehalis River last summer and not one word. You can't tell me you didn't see any knotweed along the way.
