I'm excited for baseball, and I'm not even much of a baseball person! I really enjoy going to games, eating a hot dog, and cheering on whatever team I pick for the game.

Here's to good baseball weather.

WF West baseball should be top notch this year. I think they took 3rd last year without any seniors if my memory is correct.

They had two seniors last year: Cody Ray (CF) and Mason Witters (P). They're both playing college ball now.

Napavine games postponed until Monday. The players just returned from Basketball and understandably the coaches didn't want to field a partial team.

I believe Chehalis will have 4 Seniors playing college ball next year. It should be an exciting year. But remember Centralia only lost to eventual state champion Cedercrest by 2, and by a bad call to top it off.

Oh yeah, looking forward to baseball again!!! I'm sure I'm in the minority, but since the sports complex has been voted on and approved, I would love to see an A or AA League minor league baseball team or un-affiliated minor league team play in an expanded seating Wheeler Field.

Population base is too small for a minor league team in Centralia/Chehalis. I'm a bit familiar with the summer college league in the Northwest, and we could support a team if it were properly-financed and smartly run (you'd need to find billets for the players, too). Wheeler is about the right size for that level, although I'd add bleachers at least on the third base side.

I'm perfectly happy with American Legion ball. The quality of play is pretty good, the burgers are excellent, and how can you beat watching a game under the sun in an old-school ballpark for just $2 (and the parking's free). I'll be going to six Mariners games this season, but plan to spend a LOT of time at Wheeler watching college and Legion ball.

BTW, college games are a treat because the NWAACC is a wooden bat league, so you hear the crack of the bat instead a ping. $3 to get into a Blazers doubleheader. Think I might go on Thursday afternoon, if the weather's good.

Not that I went too far out on a limb, but I certainly was correct about the Bearcat baseball team.

Good call. That was a great shot in Saturday's Chronicle of Forgione tagging the Archbishop Murphy runner out to end the game. I'll bet it was a loooooooooong bus ride home to Everett for that kid.

Congratulations to the Bearcats and ALL the local teams that brought hardware back from State last weekend. And how bizarre was the resolution of the 1A fastpitch tournament in the Tri-Cities? Everybody and their Aunt Bertha (including Onalaska) was awarded third place after rain killed things over there. What a spring.

Now it's on to summer basketball...the games have already started.
